♡ Imagine your f/o logically reassuring you of their love for you!
Do you have an f/o that is rather logical in nature? You might see a lot of imagines that cater to a more soft, and coddled approach to being reassured, but sometimes you might want to hear the logical side of things from your f/o! They'll be calm and soft spoken, listing things off they adore about you, how they don't want to live without you, they want to build a whole life with you and more. They could never leave you because you both genuinely are a good match, and that's something they can see and appreciate. They admire your traits, the good ones, the not so good ones, even the neutral ones! They won't up and leave you ever, because that doesn't make any sense to them, they love you and will always communicate anything that comes your way. No matter what your mind tells you, they'll be there to reason with it and though communication hopefully sweep away the insecurities. They understand it's an uphill battle when it comes to mental illness, but that alone they understand perfectly well and will accommodate in a manner that is healthy and constructive for both of you! But, if you ever do need it, yes, they will coddle you however much you need, because they too understand sometimes situations defy logic, and comfort might be needed before those kinds of thoughts can help.

It took me a while to figure this out but here is some advice for both reading and writing academic research:
Reading:
The important sections for skimming research are:
Abstract - to get a good idea of what the paper is about, their research questions, and findings (sometimes you can stop after this)
Introduction - this is usually a longer abstract with more details on the topic, plus you get a roadmap of what‘s being discussed in which section, so you can jump to the things you‘re interested in
Discussion - The results of the study are discussed here plus any implications these findings might have, especially if statistics are involved
Conclusion - Research questions are answered again, findings are briefly summarised, what future research still needs to be done
(This my vary across disciplines, but these should be good places to start reading)
Have a look at section titles and which one of those might be interesting to you.
Then read the first sentence of the paragraph. (This is why I‘m a big believer of good topic sentences, sth that‘s usually discussed in school but not in university.)
If the first sentence of a paragraph sounds like it‘s interesting, keep reading and/or skimming for buzz words until you get bored, continue to the next paragraph and repeat the process.
I used to struggle with reading academic texts a lot, simply because I thought I had to read everything word for word and nobody really teaches you how to read them but once I figured this out, it started to actually become enjoyable. I use this a lot for non-fiction books now as well and it‘s made my life so much easier.
Another thing to note: Depending on your area of expertise, you‘re not going to understand every single academic text because the jargon tends to vary a lot between disciplines, so sometimes it‘s just a matter of getting a bit more familiar with the topic to understand what people are talking about.
That, being said, there is a huge problem with needlessly complex research, as op points out, simply because it makes people feel superior if they think they know more than others.
It is a skill to convey something complicated in simple terms, so others can understand it easily and usually if you come across a paper that‘s just gibberish, you usually can find another on the same topic that‘s better if with a slightly different focus (usually in the Sources).
Writing:
As for writing (not as important to most, but integral for a good reading experience):
It‘s important to keep in mind that an academic text is being written for people to skip over.
When writing text yourself there is always the urge to a) not see the wider context of someone who isn‘t an expert in the topic and b) to think that because you put so much effort into this, people need to read the entire thing.
It‘s important to get rid of that thought pattern, because you are writing for others, so they can understand your research.
The ultimate goal of academia should always be to make information and knowledge more accessible to everyone, be that other researchers or just people interested in the topic.
i genuinely have no animosity towards ppl who get upset abt not being able to read academic texts + i do think we need to expand the pathways/methods of being exposed to critical concepts so that "sit + read for 2 hours" is not the only option.
however, as someone dx with adhd + incapable of sitting still for even a minute (actually right at this moment i am writing this instead of reading the book sitting open in front of me), i do feel like a lot of ppl do not realize that not all readings are designed to be read like a novel.
as in, it's ok + normal + good to need to reread a paragraph several times, to only read part of a book, to have to research or reference words or concepts in order to grasp the reading, to skip over large chunks of text which are not relevant to your expertise, to continue reading despite not understanding a concept. this is something 'neurotypical' academics do frequently + many of these texts, especially contemporary ones, were designed with this in mind.
there are many ppl with accessibility needs that are not being met by academic texts at this time! many texts (in my humble opinion) are unnecessarily complex in order to show off or hide the fact that they have no idea what they're talking about.
i still feel like many of the kneejerk reactions on this site are based on the assumption that their experience reading academic texts should be similar to their experiences reading a nyt bestseller, rather than a process of thinking, analyzing, researching, processing, returning. some of u are telling yourself that any challenges u face while reading are a result of some internal fault u have + not an expected + precious part of the experience.

i had this epiphany yesterday. I came home from college late and decided that I wanted to make stir fry. I put some music on in my earbuds because it was late and I needed some company. I was all alone, cooking for myself and later cleaning up the dishes too.
I started dancing around as I was cooking, cleaning as I went, while using a ladel as a microphone. and this thought came to me. I saw myself, maybe a couple years down the road, making this same dish in a new kitchen, except I was cooking and my future husband was doing the dishes. we were both singing the same song, dancing around and happy. then I saw myself about 5,6 years from now- same partner, same kitchen, same dish but dancing with a baby on my hip. then again 10 years from now, making this stir fry for my family with help from my husband while a little toddler was handing me carrots to chop. and again in 15 years, where my kid abandoned their homework for a bit to come dance with us. in 25 years, where I'm teaching this stir fry recipe to my kid before they go off to college. in 40 years, back to stirring the pot of noodles with a baby on my hip, this time my grandchild.
my point is mundane tasks in life are so beautiful. like you can totally look at something like doing laundry or washing dishes as boring and awful because you're gonna be doing that til you die. and yeah that's totally true, but the funky thing about being human is that although you're doing the same tasks, they're gonna get different every time!
maybe today you're only sweeping the floor of your lonely little apartment. but maybe next year you'll be sweeping the same apartment with the same broom, but you're doing it to clean up the fur that your new puppy is shedding and it isn't so lonely anymore. or maybe in five years, you're still using the same broom but sweeping your house, and you're cleaning up confetti from your kid's first birthday. maybe you just shattered your favorite mug- it was time for a new one anyway. or maybe you made a mess of flour because you decided to surprise your partner with their favorite cookies. good or bad, these little tasks are gonna keep changing, and they aren't truly "mundane" when you think about it.

this is coming from the position of a student, so don't take my word as gospel, but i want to strongly encourage people to prepare for the coming years and look outward to find communities in real life. this can be big like getting involved in fundraisers or organizations or small like going to poc/queer/art social spaces and talking to people. making friends and connections will help you and others build support networks, something you will need as we enter the new term. i know talking to strangers in real life can be scary, unfamiliar, or difficult (depending on where you live especially) and it may take a lot of compromising and work –– and i don't want to condescend –– but we have to try starting now. this is about your safety and welfare, as well as the most vulnerable people's.
if leftists/progressives/minorities want to survive and beat back what's coming, we need to do our work offline too and take up space. an example of getting involved would be (if you're an artist) reaching out to fundraising organizers and making prints of your artwork to donate for raising funds.

Prepare for the unexpected. (DPxDC)
Everyone knew about the reign of Pariah Dark. Even those who did not dabble in those realms have heard the tale of the tyrant. A power-hungry man who ruled over the dead with an iron fist.
Following the rise of Pariah Dark, his realm had been effectively cut off from communication. Many mystics and magic users knew better than to open the door of nightmares that could arise if Pariah Dark's reach went further than his own realm.
Except, the universe had plans to bring the realm of the dead back into the cards.
A new opponent, one that had all of Earth's heroes scrambling for options. A being with powers of a god over weather, destruction was on the horizon. A world ending threat.
It's the only reason the Justice League was doing this. In a deep bunker, far from close civilization as a precaution, the heroes looked on with grim expressions.
The world was already being threatened. It would be destroyed regardless of what the league did. So it only made sense to make the last ditch effort. To summon someone strong enough to defeat the threat.
No one wanted to do it. No one wanted to be the one to pull the realm of the dead back to the living. The consequences were untold if this succeeded. If Pariah Dark was freed and defeated the threat, whose to say he won't want control?
That was a problem for later. For the aftermath. For now, the league could only watch on with bated breath as Constantine completely the summon ritual.
They watched on as the shadows in the room seemed to darken and grow. As the sigil sputtered to life with a glow that was growing increasingly brighter. A sudden gust of wind rushed through the room, the temperature began to drop with eaching ticking second.
And then it was all gone.
The room stood perfectly still. Just as it had been moments before. Nothing changed. No giant king standing before them, no sign that the ritual worked.
The room stood deadly still for another beat before the murmurs started. The team trying to make sense of the situation, figure out what went wrong.
Constantine swore up and down that this was the correct ritual, taking offense that they would even think the problem was on his end. It only made it better when it finally happened.
A loud sound ripped through the room, pulling everyone's attention back to the summoning circle. Just in time to see a tear appear in the space above the circle.
A thin tear that ran the length of eight feet. The fabric of the dimension seems to curl at the edges, pulling back to reveal a deep glowing swirl of greens. A dark gloved hand reached through, fingers curling around the edge of the tear, stretching it even further.
A portal. The ritual had worked, but there had been a delay. A delay that had every hero nerves on edge. Each team member tensed, weapons at the ready as they watched the being stretch the portal to the right size.
Then, a foot stepped out with a heavy thud. A dark boot that looked otherworldly despite its similarity to mortal clothing. A deep black that seemed never-ending. A second foot quickly followed before a full body emerged from the portal.
Not many people in the room have ever seen Pariah Dark, let alone know what to expect. Based on what Constantine and Zatara had said, this wasn't Pariah Dark.
A man had stepped out of the portal, standing at almost seven feet tall, and built like a brick house. One glance at the glowing white hair, deadly red eyes, and shard teeth was enough to know this being was not to be messed with.
But there was no giant show of armor or royal garbs. There is no large crown at the top of his head or jewelry from the infinite realms laced around his neck.
Instead, the man stood before them in combat boots, worn-in ripped jeans, a graphic t-shirt, and a spiked leather jacket. Despite his almost normal clothing choice, the man's jacket seemed to be a never-ending depth of the dark night sky. If one was to look closely enough, the cosmos could almost be made out in the sea of darkness.
None of that would have prepared them for when the man spoke. His tone sounded more bored than anything as he took a step forward.
"Oh, so now you need the help of the dead." The man had spoken, running a hand through his hair. When Batman took a step forward to speak, the man raised a hand. Immediately commanding silence in the single gesture. "I'm on babysitting duty and have yet to have a cup of coffee. I'll be right back."
Just like that, both the man and portal vanished into thin air. Leaving behind a group of stunned heroes. Not only was the man not Pariah Dark, but he was also supposedly babysitting.
"Did that just-"
The Flash had been the first voice to speak up, his eyes trained on where the man had once stood. Except he had barely made it through the first few words before the man was suddenly back.
The man that now had a child hanging off his shoulders and another teen being held up by his scruff. Unlike the man, these kids looked human.
Too human for Bruce's liking. The dark black hair and bright blue eyes had every heroes eyes flickering to Batman for just the briefest moment.
"This isn't fair! I'm not even the king. Why do I have to be here!" The teenager had been complaining the moment the man had reappeared. Arms crossed tight over his chest and seemingly used to being held dangling. "Besides, who brings kids to a show down! Wait til I tell mom about this."
"Aw, come on, Danny. This is gonna be fun!!" The younger girl seemed in much better spirits than the teen, Danny. She had climbed up the large man, sitting on his shoulders and resting her arms on the mess of glowing hair. "It's like take your kids to work day! Ooo, Dan! Can we fight too!?"
Unlike the two kids, the man looked purely exhausted and annoyed. The man, Dan, dropped Danny like a sack of potatoes as he took a long drink from the travel cup in his hand.
It didn't take a genius to recognize the look of an exhausted parent in Dan's expression. A look many of the league members were well acquainted to. A look that even had Batman grimacing with sympathy.
"Can it, little shits. You two were grounded, remember." Dan had growled at the kids before shifting his focus back on the team of heroes before them. His glowing eyes set in a deadly glare. "Pariah Dark isn't coming, and he never will. He's been dethroned and banished. We're the best you've got."
A summoning that started with a group of on edge and scared heroes looking for the ghost king, ended in a way no one expected.
No one was even sure if it made any sense. They weren't sure if they should feel hopeful or in despair.
Because truly, what was a ghostly man with two seemingly human children against a godlike foe with the control over the weather?
The unspoken question of power and ability seemed to vanish following Dan downing the metal travel cup of coffee, and crushing it in his fist.
He tossed it to the side, straighting up his posture as he looked over the heroes. Dan might not be a hero, but he's been playing family for too long.
An almost feral, bloodhungry grin spread across the man's face, sharp fangs on full display. The look made the man suddenly look even less human. He looked closer to a demon from the pits of hell rather than the exhausted parent he looked just a few seconds ago.
"Point me in the direction of this bastard. It's been too long since I let loose and had some fun."

How I save time on backgrounds as a full-time webcomic artist
Hi! I make webcomics for a living, and I have to be able to draw a panel extremely fast to keep up with my deadlines. I draw about 50 panels a week, which gives me about 45 minutes per panel if I want any semblance of a healthy work-life balance.
Most webtoon artists save time on backgrounds by using 3d models, which works for them and is great! but personally I hate working in 3d... I went to school for it for a year and hated it so much I completely changed career paths and vowed never to do it again! So, this is how I save time without using any 3d, for those of you out there who don't like it either!
This tactic has also saved me money (3d models are expensive) and it has helped me converting my comic from scroll format into page format for print, because I have much more art to work with than what's actually in the panels. (I'll touch on this later)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, first, I make my backgrounds huge. my default starting size is 10,000 x 10,000 pixels. My panels are 2,500 pixels wide, so my backgrounds are 4x that, minimum. Because of this, I make them less detailed than I could or that you might expect so it doesn't look weird against my character art when I shrink portions of it down.
I personally find it much easier to add in detail than to make "removing" details look natural at smaller sizes, but you might have different preferences than I do.
I also make sure to keep all of my elements on separate layers so that I can easily remove or replace them, I can move them to simulate different camera angles more easily, and it's simple to adjust the lighting to imply different times of day.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then I can go ahead and copy/paste them into my episodes. I move the background around until it feels like it's properly fitting how I want.
Once I've done that in every panel, I'll go back through the episode and clean up anything that looks weird, and add in solid blacks (for my art style) Here's a quick before and after of what that looks like!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This makes 90% of my backgrounds take me just a few hours. This is my tactic when I'm working in an environment that an entire scene, or multiple scenes, will take place.
But many panels will inevitably have a location that's used exactly once, and it would waste time and effort to draw a massive background for those. So in 10% of cases, I just draw the single panel background in the episode. I save all of these, just in case I can re-use it later (this happens more often with outdoor locations, but I save them all nonetheless!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I generally have to draw about 2 big backgrounds per episode, and 3-5 single-panel backgrounds per episode! At the beginning of an arc/book the number is higher, but as the series is continuing and I'm building up an asset library of indoor and outdoor elements to re-use for the book, the number generally goes down and I save more time.
My series involves time travel and mysteries, so there's a lot of new locations in it and we're constantly moving around. If I were working on a series that was more consistent in this aspect, this process would save me even more time!
Like I said earlier, this also saves me a lot of pain and gives me a lot more options as I'm converting from scroll format to print format!
panels that look like this in scroll format...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
can look like this in print!
Tumblr media
because I drew the background like this, so I didn't need to go through the additional effort to add in the extra detail to expand it outwards at all.
Tumblr media
Anyways, I hope this helps someone! As always if it doesn't help, just go ahead and disregard. This is what I do and what works for me, and I feel like I only ever see time-saving tips for comics that involve 3d models and workflows, which don't work for me at all! I know there's more people like me out there, so this is for you!
Enjoy!
Also obligatory "my webcomic" if you want to see this in action or check it out!

I WEEP#it just means so much to me: Marc getting some support both from the system and from Cap#as well as how in character this is for Cap#as some of my favorite moments of his are where he reaches out to those deemed by others too ‘unstable’ or ‘unreliable’ to ever amount to#much in the grand scheme of things and he asks them to be Avengers#recognizing what invaluable talents they posses#could the cynical say this reads like a Saturday morning psa? sure but this is an infinity comic with Cap. Enjoy it for what it is akshsksj

Good Doggos Give Hope!
Cujo was, is a good boy both in life and in death.
He knows this. Everyone knows this.
So when Cujo notices his favorite half boy seemed more hurt than normal when he goes to see him, notices how stressed and on the verge of tears, notices the strain in his voice as he pretends to be okay as he pets Cujo's head. Cujo knows his favorite boy needs help.
Cujo is a good boy, and as he listens to his favorite boy and his friends talk about the GIW getting more deadly, how his parents inventions are becoming to much, how Vlad circling around his favorite boy even more often, how he's failing more classes again. Cujo decides his favorite boy needs helps.
But first Cujo needs to figure out how.
He needs help.
He needs... hope.
Hope to find help for his favorite boy.
'Everything will be okay!' A voice spoke to him, Cujo spooked yelped and flew higher than he already was and he boofed when he realized he was no longer alone... or on earth anymore, turns out he started floating up and away from earth when he started thinking of how to help his favorite boy.
Cujo, floating from both him being a ghost and from space, turned around to see... Oh! A fellow dog! Who glows blue! It has been a while since played with another dog!
He barked, tail wagging in greeting at the idea of meeting a new and fellow floating friend.
'You new friend. Need hope? I help!' The other dog voice echoed out as their tail wagged as well 'We play soon but first hope! I knows many who can help!'
Cujo barked back in excitement, yes, hope for his favorite boy is here!

here’s a (hopefully helpful) reminder to all my fellow anxious pals because I’ve seen a lot of activity today:
David Tennant is a master of ambiguity and has been doing so since he was the tenth doctor (most of his career has been keeping secrets about his projects he’s very good at it)
David did, in fact, emphatically say that season 3 has a good ending, and the “it might not be the ending you want” bit is to keep the intrigue and mystery about it, as we do not know anything about season 3 yet except for what left off in season 2 (and the small bit released with the s3 announcement), and he can’t risk giving away any specific details about anything
Neil has said over and over again that the ending has been in place since 2005 and that it’s a good ending and that everything is going to be okay, and we need to trust in his and Terry’s vision
it is, in fact, going to be okay!
There is no need to panic, let’s trust in the vision and the plan for the season! 💙

Qiu's name isn't pronounced like "queue"!
It's pronounced more like "chio"
It's like saying both the Italian goodbye "ciao" and the Chinese surname "Cho" at the same time!
It starts with a "ch" that drags into a light "ee" (in an "i" way, like "ii") and ends with a flat "o" like you're going :o !
